Exhibition Statement

The story of post modern life, Popular Culture and the cult of Social Media influence, told through the filter of three South African artists living in three different cities around the world.

United by the internet and all its subterranean passageways, the younger generation of todays artist all share a slimilar version of the world despite their varying geographic locations. The nuances of this experience are largely dependent on browsing patterns, our IRL (In Real Life) social groups, online shopping algorithms and which celebrities we may or may not follow.

In this exhibition we hope to illuminate the shared space where the convergence of three very different personalities manifests into a highly relatable narrative describing the NOW. Some would call this cutting edge, some would try to describe this juxtaposition of contemporary art making as a collective consciousness manifested in creation. The real “thinkers” of our time will simply call it “this weekend’s photo dump”
